Bruxism: First Appointment
The first appointment consists in an individualized diagnosis of bruxism deleterious effects. Skin, subcutaneous tissue, muscles of the face, neck, head and mandible are examined. We also check the dental arches, the dental occlusion, the joint of the mandible (TMJ), the gums, the buccal mucosa, and the tongue. All of these systems are related to bruxism.
Once the specific diagnosis has been made, releasing maneuvers are performed in accordance to the patient´s main complaint. The main goal is to allow the person to have an initial biological experience of the concrete treatment possibilities, and of how his or her own body responds to the maneuvers.
The specialist will explain you the type of treatment he recommends: it could be an exclusively bruxism treatment or an interdisciplinary work with kinesiology, if required.
